Sounds like you are taking them! It's obvious that you care enough
and are considerate enough to just automatically be careful. Believe
it or not, there are those who will do things like go into pet stores
and play with kits during the time when their own ferrets may be
contagious and one person recently told on a list of someone who
brought ferrets with active ECE to a show because they didn't think
of precautions.
Hopefully, your's don't have ECE, parasites, or anything else nasty
but it is wonderful that you are being careful, anyway, just in case.
