Katharine,

I understand your point. But by your logic, nobody would discuss
anything on this list. Not even our esteemed vets qualify by your
rules because they haven't SEEN any of the critters discussed here.
I've seen it mentioned here countless times that advice gained from
the FHL should be used in conjunction with a physical vet visit.

Your story about dog owners not bringing their pets to the vet in
time to save them is tragic, but common I'm afraid. Heck, it even
happens with people! I don't think what the person asking about
dosages was inappropriate at all. After all, she HAD made an error
that could have hurt the ferret, but that was avoided by asking a
question on this list.

I'm not a regular contributer to this list but I've learned so much
from this Group in the short time I've been here that I'd hate for
people to not post because of the chance that someone won't take
their ferret to a vet. It seems the sheer number of ferret people
here is a built-in system of checks and balances to guard against bad
advice.
