Subject: Re: human ear mite question

All the animals recently had ear mites again. I'm pretty
sure that it is one of our indoor/outdoor cats that keeps
getting them and sharing with everyone. We had another round
of Ivermectin and will repeat in 2 weeks. My question is, do
humans ever get ear mites? If not, why? Also, is it possible
to transmit ear mites to/from animals through petting and/or
clothes?

Almost never with the same types. They don't find us tasty
enough. Have read of a child who had them and it was weird
enough to make the literature years back. I once found them
in mine (Have microscope.) within a day or so or doing the
ferrets when we were busy knocking down an infestation but
they rapidly decided that they'd rather starve than eat from
me. Don't know if they are blood eaters, wax eaters, skin
cell eaters, or what...
