I'm pretty sure that you'll find that they are blood suckers, which
accounts for the dark waste they deposit in ferret's ears. I once read
of someone who deliberately infested himself with the mites, for
whatever reason. Said he could hear them walking across his eardrum.
Cleared them up with ivermectin when his experiment was over.
