Is is possible that Bartleby is deaf or has a blaze or other Waardensburg
symptoms? This is a relatively rare manifestation, but I have heard of
other deaf ferrets with this problem. My Buttons, a deaf blaze, also cannot
open his mouth very wide. He has been like this since birth, is now 4 years
old. He eats frequently, perhaps because it takes him longer to eat than a
normal ferret. He does tend to be on the thin side, so I give him Bob's
chicken gravy supplement every couple days.
