Subject: Removal of a lung

I am posting this question out for a friend who has a 4 year old male
ferret with a fibrous growth in his lung that is growing rapidaly.
Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of the particulars, but the vet
treating this ferret feels the only way to successfully treat the
situation is removal of the lung. My friend is wondering if any of
you good vets (and other members of the list, for that matter) have
heard of this proceedure being used with success on a ferret. For
now, the ferret is otherwise healthy and active.
Any comments would be appreciated.
