I have a quick question about fleas, I know that this isn't as
important as
all the other ferret health issue but I just want to do the right
thing.
I have two nine month old ferrets(Bonnie & Clyde) and I wanted to
see what I
can for them to get rid of their fleas.
Thank You !

I have a flea shampoo I purchased from the vet because I wanted the
mildest
thing I could find. Its called "Mycodex SensiCare" and its used for
kittens.
It still contains harsh chemicals but I felt since it was used for
kittens,
ferrets should be fine with it. And mine have. None have had any
negative
reactions. Then I use Advantage for cats and kittens under 9lbs. I
believe
its the smallest dose they make. I think other ferret owners use a
few drops
of the Advantage for dogs. I still prefer the kitten dose but I
really
couldn't tell you which is absolutely best. Once the ferrets are
"flea free"
the house needs to be done. Bedding, carpets, curtains, etc.
because the
eggs will hatch and the cycle will begin again. Zodiac products
have worked
well for me. I've even gone so far as to spray the yard. They make
all
types of products and I haven't had any problems since I used the
stuff eons
ago. Just keep up with the Advantage on the ferrets and you should
be fine.

And flea questions are very important.. I believe fleas can make
ferrets
anemic. Is this correct, anyone? I thought I'd read that
somewhere.
Besides... how uncomfortable the poor little things must be. They
are
already itchy little animals. Add fleas and they've got to be
suffering.

Hope this helps... if I've misinformed this person I hope someone
out there
will correct me. I love learning about these little guys.
