My vet just told me this evening that these days he sees about one canine
distemper case about every 5 years. He stated that distemper has almost been
eradicated in dogs. However, I've been told it is airborne and can travel
into your home on clothing, shoes, etc. I still have my ferret vaccinated
for it, even though he doesn't go outside much, my dogs do, and if I'm going
to protect them I may as well be safe with everyone.
