Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Water Consumption?
Hi Susan,
When I noticed that my baby ferret, Mikey was consuming , what
I thought was, more water than normal I talked to my vet and
we tested his urine. He had a bladder infection among other
things. A week on antibiotics cleared this up. If you are
concerned I would think to rule out a medical problem would be
best. Increased water consumption can also be a sign of other
problems.
Take care,
Steph and Mikey

Curious.
2 sets of ferrets in separate cages.
Cage 1 has a male and female pair. 1 year old and healthy,
from my private breeders. Weights are about 2 (F) and 4 (M)
pounds.
Cage 2 has two females... rescues.... 3-4 years old. Not in
good health but past problems with stomach problems etc.
Weights are about 1.5 pounds each.
The owner has noticed the older pair seem to be going
through about 40% more water per day than the younger pair.
Does anyone have any ideas of why this might be?
Susan
