Subject: meesh: renal cysts; Aortic Insufficiency (questions for
vets/others)

Hi again,
I wondered if anyone has any clinical experience
with renal cysts. Mighty Mouse, now 6.5 y/o,
developed 2 small renal cysts (about 30-40 mm) about 6
months ago and now there are 2 more (same size) and
one of the originals is now 50 mm (may be due to angle
of ultrasound or real enlargement). I know that they
can be incidental findings upon necropsy but I
wondered if anyone had any idea why they form, and/or
if they have been found to cause clinical problems
(now that more and more people are using more and more
diagnostics, perhaps there's more clinical experience
to be shared).
Also, Mighty Mouse developed Aortic Insufficiency
(and a small amount of mitral as well). No DCM at
all..her systolic functioning is great but the AI is
significant and it's new. Two years ago she had an
echo and was normal. Has anyone seen this develop
suddenly and if so, any thoughts? I know this makes
her surgery (if I go through with it) - insulinoma and
enterotomies for histo (intermittent, waxing 'n
waning, mild diarrhea and occult blood) a little risky
and I'm still debating whether to do surgery or not.
She only has one kidney and therefore can't go on
Enacard. A shot of lasix and watching the fluids
would be the only way to control the situation during
surgery.

All your thoughts are appreciated,

Thanks,
Hugs and ferret kisses,

ps. If anyone does respond to this or the last post,
please cc me at meeshmeesh1@y... (in addition the
FHL) since I get the list in digest and usually in the
middle of the night..thanks.
