Hi,

My opinion is if the ferret is in good health other than the
insulinoma, do surgery, but again, that is just my opinion and
I'm not a vet. Here are a bunch of links with tons of
insulinoma info to check out if you haven't already:

surgery being the first step in treatment
http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/prednisone.htm

about prednisone being the first step in treatment

Dooks to all the sick fuzzies out there,

Hello,
I was wondering if I could get some information on treatment
options for ferrets with insulinoma. My vet says that my
ferret has small tumors on her pancreas that causes her
blood sugar level to drop causing seizures... and it has. I
am currently treating her with prednisone but it does not
seem to be doing much. Her blood test showed her blood sugar
level to be 18 instead of 100 where it should be. My vet
suggested surgery.
Is this my only option? What can I do? I am at a loss. I
would appreciate any help you can give me!
