Subject: Merial Distemper Vaccine
While I was talking to my vet yesterday, I mentioned that Merial was
coming out with a ferret distemper vaccine that had caused very
little reaction in testing thus far. He was very excited, said he'd
check it out, and called me back about half an hour later. Whoever
he talked to at Merial told him that, while the new vaccine was on
the drawing board, Merial had no immediate plans to manufacture it.
If this is true, what can we all do to encourage them to start making
plans?? Although I've never had a ferret (kit or adult) react to
either distemper or rabies shots, I would certainly prefer to use the
safest possible vaccine.
