After his blockage removal Scooter could not have solid foods for
something like three days, so we went the long-term IV route which
worked well for him in regard to his health (though he wanted badly
to come home so it was stressful). Afterward the vets said that they
wished that they had sent him home with the IV and daily check-ins
He got through that fine due to the IV.
When Scooter finally had waited long enough after stomach surgery to
have food he first began with a/d and baby food -- NO hard to digest
things like crunchies.
Have you considered having him back on IV for a bit?
