Rhonda, What I have done in similar situations is ask the vet to do an
exploratory surgery. That way, if the problem was an obstruction, the ferret
might survive. If the vet finds some awful tumor, you might decide not to
let the ferret wake. Or the ferret might die from the surgery. In either
case, you'll know you tried, and you will likely find out what was wrong,
which can be comforting. If you just have the ferret put to sleep without
trying, you'll always wonder what the problem was and if you could have saved
him.
