My little boy did not go painless and
it still haunts me. The vet gave him a shot in the
tummy and it was so painful.
How did your doctor make it so peaceful for Champy? I
hate to ask this but I am facing it again soon and
don't want this little guy to suffer the same way.

Euthanasia is one of the hardest (and at the same time most
wonderful, when
it's time) things for us vets to do. Speaking for myself, I find it
easiest
and gentlest to give a sedative in the muscle - this stings for a
few
seconds, then the ferret falls asleep, usually cuddled by his or her
owner.
Once the ferret is asleep, I give a second injection of an
anesthetic
overdose. The ferret (or cat, since I help cats to reach the bridge
this way
as well) never feels the second shot.

My sympathy to all who have lost a fuzzy recently.
