Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Wheezing Ferret

Well, I'm no vet, but I do have a ferret with cardiomyopathy (who has been
maintaining VERY well for a year and six months now on digitalis, enacard,
and lasix!), so I have my own 2 cents... <g>

Wouldn't an enlarged heart have shown up on the x-ray? and
An echocardiogram would seem to be in order if it did...?

BTW, the one we have with cardiomyopathy, Gabrielle, is the only ferret
we've ever had who has snored since she was a kit. Considering that some
doctors now say there is a link between excessively loud snoring and
potential heart problems in humans, I thought this was
interesting. Gabrielle snores *loudly*, and at first I thought perhaps it
was wheezing, but she only does it when asleep, so it's definitely
snoring. She was dx-ed with the cardio problem when she was 3 1/2 years
old. She is now 5.
