Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Dangerously ill from "Flu"

I have an albino named Sylvester who contracted the flu about two
years ago
when it was going through our house. All the humans got it...Sly
was the
only ferret of 8 who got it. I took 2 sick days from work in order
to give
Sly alternate feedings of Timmy's Total Tonic...Pedialyte...and
bottled
water. He survived beautifully. But, as a result, was rendered
blind.
About a year ago, Sly went in to have adrenal surgery, but, we were
told, he
was okay, even though he had blood in his urine. He was, however,
pre-cancerous. He was put on a daily dose of Prednisone. The
blood has
totally disapperared unless I miss a dose ( that happened only once
at the
beginning when I thought I would let him sleep and I went off to
work
forgetting to give him his meds.) Now...I have a question. Does
prolonged
use of Prednisone cause spotty-baldness on Sly's body? Other than
that, Sly
is just great. Of course, he is on the elderly side at 5 years of
age.
