Subject: Wheezing Ferret/Cooling Ferrets

Both Emma and Dillon "wheeze" when they're
playing. But, I never thought of it as wheezing.
I think of it as panting when they're excited.
They don't do it all the time. It's usually when
they're interacting with me and I'm chasing them
around. It's kind of like HehHehHeh, a panting
sound. I even "pant" back at them. I don't know
whether that's what you're describing. If it is,
I don't think there's a problem.

Sukie, I'm glad you brought up not using cold
water on a hot ferret. If a person or animal is
suffering from heat, putting them into cold water
can cause them to go into shock. I believe the
water should be tepid. Also, keep in mind that
ferrets' body temperatures are much higher than
ours. What feels cool to us would feel freezing
cold to them.
