Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: insulinoma and vomiting

My pred is suspended in Ferretone, so my guys think it's a
treat. My vet just crushes up the pills into a certain amount
of Ferretone and puts it in a clear bottle. I just shake it up
really good and measure out the amount with the syringe and
they go nuts. I make sure also to give them food right after
because the pred is hard on their tummies. You can also put
the pred right into some chicken baby food to mask the taste,
but I would ask your vet if they could suspend it in
Ferretone.

Good luck,

I have buy my prednisone from a compounding pharmacy in a
nice grape
flavor that is also compounded into a smaller dose. My pred.
is in a
5mg/ml suspension, so if any ferret still does not like the
flavor,
they are only getting a very small amount. Most of my
ferrets dosages
do not exceed 0.1ml.
Hope that helps.

Sincerely,
Adrienne and her 7 pred. ferrets!
