Advantage is a flea preventive. It kills fleas and flea larvae but has no effect on the enviroment. I would use the cat Advantage. I personally use the Frontline Plus(another type of topical flea preventitive),it kills the fleas, the larvae and eggs. I also know that the dander that falls off your pet after a treatment of Frontline Plus has some enviromental control. Since fleas only spend ~ 10% of their time on the animal it is very important to treat the enviroment too.--- Original Message -----

Hello,
I have read many people mention using Advantage for flea control. Does Advantage prevent fleas or is it just a treatment for fleas? There is mention of using both the dog and the cat types. Is there a difference in chemical content or just in amount? Which is safer to use?
I don't have a flea problem right now, thank goodness. Just want to be prepared.
