Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Rubbing alcohol for ear

Rubbing alcohol and Peroxide both are very irritating. Not to
mention the efficacy is questionable for both. A really good
cleaning agent for the ears is a product called Epi-Otic. It
is very mild and is also a good drying agent for the ears. I
just put some on a cotton ball and gently wipe out the ears. I
get it from my vet.

cleaning

Question: Someone told me the prefect way to clean a
ferret's ears of wax
build up is to swab out the ear with rubbing alcohol. Is
this true? What
about the excess dripping into the ear canel, wouldn't that
cause damage to
the inner ear? I use hydrogen peroxide-but the bubbles
really make those
little fuzzies jumpy.
