Subject: Rigid ferret, what does it indicate?

What does it mean when a ferret is rigid? I'm ferret sitting and one of
the ferrets isn't well. When I picked him up from a sleeping partially
curled position, his body was rigid, not limp as a healthy ferret would
be. I sub-q'd him and did get him to eat a jar of baby food recipe. He's
alert but has hind end weakness. He's recovering/recovered from ECE and
this came on afterwards. I'm thinking there must be some significance to
the rigidity. Does anyone know? Is it liver related? (yes, he's been
seen by our vet but I just started taking care of him so I wasn't with him
at the time.)

Hugs to all. tle
