Subject: ECE reminder
Do not forget that even after symptoms are gone the animals are
contagious for a very long while. When we had it here we were told
they could still shed the virus for 6 to 8 months so after the about
3 months of bad health our guys had was over we just waited till a
full year from onset to be safest. We didn't want to pose a risk to
anyone else's ferrets. Didn't even set foot into a pet store, go to
show, etc. It wasn't fun but we emotionally needed to do that to
feel that we did not present any chance of a hazard.
