Infections can be difficult; we've dealt with them before and after 
amputations and after one other surgery.  At times the individuals 
have had to be on two antibiotics, one better with aerobic bacteria 
and one better with anaerobic bacteria.  Sounds like you need to run 
back to the vet.  This isn't the vets' fault; it's just one of those 
things that can sometimes be very tricky.  Ask the vet about warm 
soaks with Xenadine, too.
