Subject: Re: Vitamin A

Hi Dr. Williams;

I was checking my old e-mails and came across a case in which a person
wrote and told me of his ferrets being fed a lot of deer livers,
reportedly high in vitamin A, as it was free and available, in the UK.
The ferrets got sick and as a result of eating these livers, they had
liver damage directly due to the high vitamin A content. It was not
indicated just how long the ferrets were fed the deer livers or if it
was the only food they were fed though it did appear to be the main
food. Is this still a possibility?

I guess there are a lot of variables here as we would have to know the
quantities of liver given, over what period of time, and if it was an
exclusive diet, etc., etc.

regards,
betty and her blur o'fur
for the love of ferrets...
