Tail?!

California Stretch Rat??!!

I do hope you're talking ferrets, here :)

It sounds like Rat Tail. And, would you believe, I
sent an email similar to yours, just a month ago! I
have 3 ferrets. They all seem to get it every summer.

I got all kinds of advise on what kind of shampoo to
try for getting it off (the little black heads). Wish
I could remember it all. My vet gave me a medicated
shampoo to try. Washing the tail is no easy task!
Someone recommended a soft toothbrush to help loosen
the little blackheads. I've not yet tried it, but am
ready to.

I have the book by Mary R. Shefferman and it talks a
little about Rat Tail. If it's Rat Tail, no need to
isolate your little guy. Just give him a wash with
medicated shampoo (can someone on the list recommend a
brand? I cannot remember mine. Sebahex or something)

Good luck!
