Thankfully, I have absolutely no experience with this parasite and
will have to defer the question to others more knowledgeable in this
area.

I don't know that to be the case. I'm sure we will hear from plenty
of people who have experienced tarry stools from their ferret(me for
one) and whose ferret has not died.
