Subject: Fur loss on tail only

Hello Friends-
I have a 1 year old male who appears very healthy, however, he is developing
a "rat tail". Jack has always had a beautiful coat, which he still does now,
despite his tail. During last year's coat change, which occurred in late
October, and then again in May, but,
he didn't appear to loose fur so significantly. It was only noticable on
the he base of his tail (no skin showing). I live in NY, the temperature has
not changed yet, so I'm not sure if this is a shed, or a problem. His
behavior is normal, as are his eating pattern
and his bathroom habits (yes Dr. Williams-I am a poop watcher :)
Should he be brought in for a TN pattern????
Is every coat change different?? Would the time of the shed change with each
year? I have had him and his 4 buddies for about a year, and I have done my
homework on my ferrets, but maybe I am at a loss on some of the nuances of
ferreting, can someone offer their experiences to me???

Thanks! & Best Wishes to All!
