Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Cataracts caused by electroshock?

Hi,

My ferret, Ashes, also has the same type of Cataracts a white dot in both of
his eyes right in the front. Ashes, will be 5 years old this October. These
dots seem to have showed up very suddenly. I don't think he is completely
blind at this time thou, there really doesn't seem to be that much of change
in him. I really don't think Ashes could have come into contact with a
electroshock, but then I guess its possible. Considering the playroom that
my ferrets have is in the huge master bathroom, and there is electrical
outlets by the sinks. Ashes came from a breeder in Oregon and I have had him
from the time he was a Kit and he and the 34 ferrets at my house have always
had the best Ferret Food. So I really don't think the food has anything to
do with it. I just took it that he was getting old and just like humans this
is one of the signs of ageing. I also have three ferrets that have
insulinoma and none of them have cataract problems. My Snuggles is 7 years
old and has had insulinoma for the past three years. He has been on Bob's
chicken gravy and a low dose of pred and has had no other big problems, He
has no problems seeing!LOL
