When a ferret can not be vaccinated just use precautions like not
letting outside except when you are carrying it for short and
infrequent trips, keeping soiled shoes outside, etc. Unless you have
something like a lion the form of distemper contracted by cats is of
a different type. Is the dog vaccinated?

We have had (and do have) some who couldn't be vaccinated due to poor
health, and some who couldn't be vaccinated due to allergic
reactions. That can sometimes happen, esp. when a ferret almost dies
at separate times from multiple vaccines.

Have your vet read about the new Merial Recombitek vaccine when that
is sold; if not right for that one of your's could still help others.
