I think premedication does help. Two of my ferts had reactions to rabies
vaccines last year and were premedicated before their vaccinations this year.
Adric had a mild reaction (vomiting, diarrhea) and was premedicated with
benadryl only. He had no reaction at all this year. Nyssa had a severe
reaction which I have already posted about. She was pretreated for three days
prior to the vaccination with dexamethasone and pretreated with both benadryl
and dexamethasone within an hour of getting her rabies shot. Once again, she
had no reaction this year. Considering that last year's reaction almost killed
her, I've got to believe that the premedication regimen my vet used had to make
some difference.

All the best,
Caity
