Subject: Oder associated with adrenal disease

I have heard that a healthy ferret has a tail that smells like grape soda.
I have also heard that if a ferret has a "burnt" smell,it is adrenal.
Is any of this fact? I have a male about 3 yrs. He has no hair loss,
but he cannot be kept with his female cagemates because he will not stay
off their necks. His fur is like silk, although it is not a fluffy coat.
He sometimes smells burnt when he gets warm, like when I hold him.
He does not have the grape soda smell like my others.
Thanks for any answers.
