Subject: Cryptococcus neoformans
Hello, This is my first post to this list. I was wondering if anyone knows
any thing about this organism = Cryptococcus neoformans? It seems that one
of our little girls had this organism in a lump located in her neck. Our vet
said he had only read about 4 other cases and they were discovered at post
mortem. He said it usually attacks the brain. I asked him if it was
contagious? He told me that so little is known about it in ferrets, he
couldn't say for sure. I have 9 others and sure don't want them catching it.
I don't even know where anything like this could have come from. Any
information on this organism would be quite helpful in my search.
