We have an almost 8 year-old sprite who had one adrenal gland removed early
year. Classic signs of swollen vulva and hairloss at the base of the tail
spreading up the flanks. The vulva went back to near normal shortly after
the surgery, but the swelling returned. We tried melatonin at 1 mg/kg for a
month with no obvious results. We tried Lupron. The vulva swelling
decreased, but increased again within 3 months.
Hearing that the melatonin might take up to 3 months to work we put her back
on melatonin once a day. Within two months the swelling decreased; by 6
months it was normal and continues normal; hair has regrown.
