If you give them seperately, you know which one causes the reaction.

Definitely. You almost never get a reaction to the first exposure to a
particular antigen. You can give the same vaccine for years and one day,
just out of the blue, you get a reaction. Once you've had a reaction,
you can be pretty sure that you will have another one next time you give
that particular vaccine.
