Subject: Tooth Cutting into Lip
Hi Debbie,
My Boris has had the same snagletooth problem all of his life. I
have been to many vets within the past year and all of them said the
same thing: The tooth formed a pocket type thing in the lip so the
tooth just fits in there with no problems and he doesn't seem to be
in any pain. They said to just keep an eye on the lip to make sure
it never gets infected (which it shouldn't). He was one of my
rescues and when I got him I couldn't stand to look at it because I
thought it hurt him but he is going on just fine with it! I do
notice something weird when he eats sometimes; his eyes start to
water, like he is crying and someone said maybe it is because his
tooth hurts him when he eats. I don't think that is what it is but I
am very curious of why his eyes water?!?
So depending on how bad the little one's tooth is, a lot of times the
ferret can keep the tooth with no corrections.
Hope this helps some,
Love - Megan
