My Champ lived six months after he was diagnosed
with renal failure and was finally taken by
congestive heart failure. He was medically
managed the entire six months.
I believe with all of my heart that animals are
masters at masking pain and discomfort. I think
it goes back many thousands of years. Weak
animals become prey.
I think this points out the importance of older
ferrets (3+) having bloodwork once or twice a
year. I try to do mine twice a year but am not
always successful. Bloodwork can point out many
problems long before they become evident to us.
Then, we can begin managing the problems early.
