Subject: ear mites

Can anyone tell me the type of Ivermectin I should buy to control ear mites?
Someone wrote that Ivermectin can be applied directly in the ear (and on the
tail, for rattail) as opposed to injection. After viewing the numerous types
for sale on Jeffer's website, I am thoroughly confused. They make
injectable, paste, drops, etc. and they come in various degrees of strength.
1%, 1.8%, .5%... I don't want to buy the wrong thing. Especially since
everything I found was packaged for horses and cows.

Here is an exact quote: "contains 5 mg ivermectin per ml. Apply along back
of animal at 5 ml per 110 lb of body wt." Yikes!!! How do I break that down
for a 1lb ferret? Is this even the correct type? May I just dip a cotton
swab in the liquid and clean the ferret's ear w/it?

There were many other options.... any help with strength, type, dosage,
application, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
