Well, I'll probably get flamed because this goes against the popular
opinion. So be it.

I do not believe too much sugar CAUSES any problems except those that
might be brought on by the ferrets failure to eat his healthy kibble.
Certainly, if he has insulinoma, then you must avoid sugars, but sugar
doesn't cause insulinoma. So give whatever your ferret likes for treats.
Just don't give so much that he doesn't eat his kibble. A raisin or two
cut into quarters seems like a lot of treats to the ferret and I don't
believe it will hurt a healthy ferret. I also give other fruits now and
then. It is good policy to give meat treats, slivers of cooked chicken,
beef or pork are perfectly fine. Gerbers #2 chicken is a great treat and
giving it gets the ferret familiar with the taste and smell so you can
give it if he ever gets sick and needs it. I would prefer natural fruits
over junk food like pop tarts, but if given in small amounts, even those
aren't going to harm a healthy ferret. The greatest ferret treat is
Ferretone. They love it and it contains no sugar. Just avoid giving so
much that they get vitamin A poisoning.
