Subject: RE:Adrenal temp meds

Hello everyone, I have a male ferret that I just found out
needs his right adrenal cryoed. He had his left one out 2
years ago. He has been VERY itchy all over for about a month,
and just now has thinning fur, and is alittle lethargic.
Because of a serious health issue that has suddenly come up
with me personally, I must put Tigger's surgery off for 2
weeks. I will and have been watching his potty habits closely,
to be sure he is urinating well, so far so good. If he shows
any bad signs I will have to do surgery sooner. We did his
pre-op blood tests, and all is ok. My question is, I want to
give him something in the meantime to help stop his terrible
itching. My vet said to give Benadril 0.4 ml 2 times a day. I
could only find Children's Benedril liquid. It has
Diphenydramine Hydrochloride12.5 mg. Alcohol free,sodium
benzoate, poloamer 407, sodium chloride ,sodium citrate &
sugar. It says nothing about aspirin if it has it or not.
That makes me nervous. What do you all think of the safety of
this? I also have Triaminic That has Pseudoephedrine HCI,USP
.15mg, Chlorpheniramine maleate 1 mg, no asprin, I gave it to
him when he had a cold and it was ok. I am confused which is
better for his itching, and safer!! Thank you for your input.
I want to do the best for him!! Best wishes to you all and
your fur kids! Michele & the fur gang
