Subject: Re: Possible insulinoma

Hi -

I'm not a vet, but one of my ferrets had very similar symptoms brought on
very suddenly last spring. We found her one evening (when we got home from
work) with a crusted over ear, she could barely walk, kept falling over and
had a head tilt. (She was fine the night before.) We ran to the emergency
vet, and found out she had a sudden-onset ear infection, she'd gotten
earmites and had probably scratched too much (none of the tests for
earmites on my dogs and cat had ever shown anything, sp I assumed we didn't
have them!) Anyhow, after cleaning, antibiotics and earmite treatment for
the whole family, she recovered completely, although the list stayed for a
couple weeks.
Anyhow, I thought that perhaps you should consider an ear infection/rupture
of the ear drum as a possibility. We were convinced our ferret was dying
when we found her, but she was easily cured.
