We also have used it on carpets without and problems. The
precautions which need to be followed are to let it dry completely,
to never spray it on animals (Yes, some non-ferret folks did and
then were shocked to have problems.) , and to not use it on
things like the ferrets' bedding. I do have to tell you that it's NOT
up to major incontinence problems such as having a ferret with
urinary and fecal incontinence for a long period so in that case
unless the carpet is due to be replaced you'll want to get carpet
protectors of some sort (plastic, papers, washable rugs, or
indoor-outdoor carpeting you will later trash, or...)
