Cancer
Hey Terry,
If the ferret is seizing you should definitley increase
the pred. It is unlikely that either the Devil's Club or
baby food is CAUSING the seizures, but more likely a
worsening of the insulinoma.
As most of you know by now (g) I have had good luck with
Devil's Club, but it's not a panacea anymore than any
other medication or supplement. I would consider doing the
following:
1) is he a candidate for surgery? Removing some or all the
insulinomas can be a great help.
2) Increase the pred, especially until he is stabalized.
Then work with your vet to determine lowest amount he is
stable on.
Again, my experience is that I have been able to use less
pred if I use the Devil's Club with it.
3) increase his feedings. If he is going too long between
meals his blood sugar will drop too low and he will seize.
BTW, that is fantastic that he has been stable for a year.
Pat yourself on the back for that one!
Good luck and feel free to contact me off the list if I
can help.
