Subject: Nose tumor/Giardia/beginning of Adrenal(?)/bronchitus

Hi everyone! I recently asked all of you for advice on bedding where
Salem and Boris are concerned. Well, I had a feeling something just
wasn't right with them (plus I had a bad dream) so I took them to the
vet on Monday. Here is what happened:

Salems symptoms were: Coughing (hacking) on occasion, very recent
development of rat tail, itchy and going "phantom potty" /scooting
even after she actually went.
Eating/drinking are normal, but she gets tired playing a little
sooner than typical.

Boris' symptoms: Itchy and had an owie on the bridge of his nose that
just wont heal correctly. Boris is mainly the one I had the bad dream
about.
He is perfectly normal other than those things.

Diagnosis:
Salem - after x-rays it was noticed that she has bronchitus. .2ml
Benedryl twice a day.
She had a stool sample checked and she has Giardia (Boris had it
about a year ago). She is on 1 ML Clavamox twice daily. The vet said
that could be why her poor litter box use is worse than normal. She
is also on (forgive the spelling) 1ML Metrondzole once daily (for the
itching, I believe).
As for the rat tail, the vet isn't convinced that's what it is, as
her skin does not appear to be oily. She thinks it may be the
beginning of adrenal, but her vulva looks fine. I already have
Sibolux at home. She said to try it anyway.

Boris: Had a skin scraping done, it looked ok (didn't floures). He is
on 1.5 ML of the Metro-whatever once daily. The supposed "owie" is
really a tumor! I really don't know why I didn't figure that out on
my own. He has some black hair around the area so it is hard to see,
but still, I should have noticed.
He is going in to surgery Friday to have it removed and biopsyed.
Before he goes under, they are doing a 6 panel test w/electrolytes
(normal procedure?). The vet also wants to clean his teeth, to the
tune of $85. I just had his teeth cleaned about 2 years ago. She said
she saw some tarter on his teeth, but is this something I need to do?
When his teeth were cleaned before, the Dr. at the humane society did
it while he was under getting neutered (H.S. was much cheaper than my
vet for both procedures). I told the Dr. there to do it as my normal
vet suggested it but he said he hardly had any tarter at all.
I truly don't think my vet is trying to cheat me, we have been with
her for almost, if not, 20 years now. We just lost a cat to FeLV and
she took it almost as hard as we did. Perhaps she is being overly
concerned? If it is necessary I will do it, of course.

Sorry I am so long winded... it's genetic.
Any comments welcome!!
