I have found that the easiest way to give sub-q fluids or injections
is to get them busy eating. I had to give Champ fluids twice a day,
in addition to occasional injections, and he would eat his soup while
I did this. He didn't even seem to notice. It was when he was on
one of his hunger strikes that it got difficult but we eventually got
through that.

You could even squirt out some NutriCal or other treat to keep them
busy. After a while, you get a routine going.
