I like the butterfly needle, distract the ferret with a little
plate with ferretone, or another favorite, and scruff
and insert the needle, once it gets in if the ferret squirms it
will pretty much stay in place as long as it was inserted
most of the way under the skin, then you need a syringe
to push in the fluids that you can warm so they don't
feel it so much.
There is a great link from ferret central to someone who took
the time to write step by step how to give SQ and pics too!
I found it very helpful, go to www.ferretcentral.org and
look under medical FAQ and look around for the link to
giving the SQ fluids.
