Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Cleo's Adrenal Cancer

Dear Maureen:

I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I don't know the whole story, but I am guessing that your ferret had surgery for an adrenal tumor. If this was the case, that was your only form of treatment. I had six ferrets and three of them have had adrenol tumors. My very first fuzzy, Trouble, died of what we think was a second tumor and he started bleeding out.

All I can say to you is that you did what was best for your ferret as probably without the surgery your fuzzy wouldn't have survived anyway. Once again I am so sorry about your little friend. I know what your going through. If I can help in any way or make it easier, please email me.

I know that this is a standard procedure, but upon opening her up they found that her tumor was extremely large. After removing half of the tumor Cleo began to hemoridge. They were able to stop the bleeding but her heart couldn't withstand the stress of the surgery. We lost Cleo. I do not know where to turn next. I feel that maybe if I had not gone through with the surgery she might have been okay. I am worried about what is going to happen to her brother Alex when Cleo doesn't come home. Right now I am just questioning everything I did. Was there something else I could have done to help her ...and is there something I can do for Alex? Thank you so much for all of the advice I received regarding Cleo prior to surgery. She was my very first fuzzy friend when I moved out on my own...she will be missed immensely.
