Subject: [Ferret-Health-list] Adrenal again?

The only thing that upsets me is that if the vet gets busy
with an emergency the blood test gets put off and the ferret
gets very hungry.

Hi Patty,
It sounds like his other adrenal is involved and
you will need an expert if it is a right adrenal, or
if you prefer not to do surgery again, there are other
methods such as the
When you mentioned his sleeping all the time, made
me wonder if you have had his blood glucose checked,
as so often the two problems go together. You might
want to do a blood fasting level on him at your next
vet visit, make sure you feed him at least 20ccs of
baby food 4 hours before, that way you will know for
sure he has eaten enough before taking his food away!
I always time my visit to the vet to allow for a
wait, so you might want to try to feed him 3 1/2hrs
before, so you can do the blood test at the 4 hour
mark and take along some food for after to give him!
Sorry to hear your husband is away---Angela.
