Although ferrets who have had adrenal surgery usually lose additional
hair before the new comes in, I think I'd start to be a little
concerned about now if there's been no regrowth since the end of
July.

Being in Florida really shouldn't have much bearing on it. Their
signal to grow a new coat is photoperiod based, not temperature.
The vast majority of us keep our ferrets indoors and not exposed to
natural photoperiods so I don't know how much the differences in
latitude would come into play.

If it were me, I believe I'd give it another month or so and then, if
there's still no change, decide what I was going to do.
