Heh heh heh... Yeah, I've never seen ANY other animal hate a rectal
temp-taking as much as a ferret.
I can't answer anything about those ear thermometers and will watch for
any info. But while we're on the topic, I did pick up a "flexible"
digital thermometer a few months ago, and it works a bit easier than the
usual rigid ones. It's digital and so easy to read and a little faster
than a glass one, and the body of it is quite soft and flexible, so it
bends and flexes as the fuzzy moves. I have fewer paranoid fears about
hurting the ferret with this, and they do seem to be a little bit more
comfortable with it. They still hate it, of course; it's only a mild to
moderate improvement. It came with some little plastic sleeves that go
over the thermometer; I figure the soft plastic/rubber may be harder to
clean than hard plastic, so I always use one of these sleeves with it.
